Our funds

Our funds support programs, causes, and communities for generations to come.   We are enormously grateful for contributions of all sizes helping us build an endowment to enrich the quality of life in Utah.

Donor Advised Funds

Behind each of our donor advisors is a unique inspiration and vision. Whether their "community" is an issue, organization, hometown, or our entire state, their gifts help support the causes that are closest to their hearts.

  • The Greg and Diane Warnock Family Charitable Fund
  • Kerr-Jackson Fund
  • The Kingfisher Fund
  • The Elliot-Hall Fund
  • The Broman Family Fund

Organizational Endowments

When a nonprofit organization houses their endowment with the Community Foundation, they receive value-added services. The Foundation provides investment management, audit and other related services for these funds. We also work with agency boards and staff to help them develop the policies and skills needed to attract planned gifts from their supporters and friends. We charge no administrative fees for this service.

Alta Community Enrichment Fund:

ACE strengthens our community by bringing people who live, work and play in Alta and Snowbird together to share in the arts, cultural events and education. ACE offers year-round programming for free or very little cost in Alta's stimulating mountain environment. Events include the Wildflower, Snowflake and Telluride MountainFilm Festivals, Welcome to Winter Photography Slide Show, Local Music Series, Local Artist Shows and Art Education, Avalanche Awareness Workshops, Movie Nights, and Children's Art in the Mountains, to name a few. ACE is very proud of its Alta School Outreach Program, which establishes new art and cultural programming at the one room school located in Alta. ACE proudly supports the artistic and educational endeavors of local community members by offering two grants, the Artist Grant and the WEXL Education Grant. Each of these grants awards $1,000 each year to a local community member.

The YMCA - the Tom E. and Nancy A. Nissalke Camp Fund.

This endowment was created to ensure that all kids can enjoy the YMCA's camping experience. It is established in Tom's honor for the years of service he provided the YMCA, and his work to ensure that that the YMCA in Utah will continue to be a strong and viable organization that serves all of Utah's youth and families.

The Fund for Social Entrepreneurship:   This fund is focused on supporting the innovation of Utah's nonprofit sector. The fund will invest in new approaches to complex issues using a competitive process.

The Environmental Stewardship Fund: This fund focuses on local, high impact organizations working to help our natural environment.

Fiscal Sponsored organizations

We are pleased to offer fiscal sponsorship to emerging nonprofit organizations. We accept funds on their behalf, using our tax exempt status, so they can better our community and our world.

Our Haitian Heroes is a new Utah based organization whose mission is to build housing and construction businesses in Haiti. The group was started by a coalition of LDS Church missionaries who had served missions in the country and want to assist the earthquake ravaged country. It has grown quickly to include people from all walks of life and religious backgrounds who are looking for a way to make a permanent difference in the lives of Haitians.

The I Am Jane Foundation, led by Keith Hamilton, supports the production of Margaret Blair Young's award-winning stage play about Jane Manning James, an early black LDS pioneer who survived the mobs at Nauvoo, the westward trek to the Salt Lake Valley and the societal prejudices of an unforgiving era with unyielding faith, courage, and tolerance. Historically accurate, the play explores the challenges Jane and other black Mormons faced within the LDS Church, especially during the settlement and establishment of what is now Utah. The Project ChoixVert Fund supports the creation of a new tool for Internet users to make socially responsible choices in their on line activities. Judith Burton, the founder of Project ChoixVert explains the passion behind her social entrepreneurship: "I strongly feel as sentient beings we have an ethical obligation to learn, invent, share and provide technologies to cultivate social responsibility, encourage collaboration, and enhance independence. By this practice, our culture will move at an accelerated pace into a future of maximum health and well being for humans, other species and the planet."
