Fourth Street Clinic Endowment Fund

4thcirclThis endowment fund works to end homeless in Utah by supporting Fourth Street Clinic’s health care and support services for uninsured, homeless Utahns. For 20 years, Fourth Street Clinic has successfully helped countless Utahns live healthier lives and transition back into housing. This endowment ensures that Utahns will never have to forgo good health during times of personal and economic crisis. An investment in the Fourth Street Clinic Endowment is an investment in our community health.

Gifts of any size are welcome. Use our on line giving portal or call the foundation staff to make a gift at  (801) 559-3005.

Founded in 1988, Fourth Street Clinic opened in response to the mid-80’s revitalization period that redeveloped several lower-income residencies and left many Utahns homeless. Medical anthropologist Allan Ainsworth, PhD, a long-time resident of Utah and graduate of the University of Utah, saw long lines forming outside social service agencies and knew that access to on-going health care services would mean the difference between temporary and intergenerational homelessness.

With a federal grant, Dr. Ainsworth started the clinic inside a small office across the street from the newly-opened Road Home shelter and provided triage services with a part-time nurse. Today, Fourth Street Clinic is a stand-along clinic on the corner of 400 South and 400 West. Dr. Ainsworth continues to lead a staff of 45 and a volunteer network of 200 that serves 6,500 homeless men, women and children with coordinated primary care, behavioral health, specialty and pharmaceutical services.
