Housing and Homelessness Fund

Funding innovation on homeless services and prevention.

Our Goals

The Housing and Homelessness Fund is guided by a committee of individuals who share a common vision: to provide housing and services to those who are at risk for homelessness or are homeless. Collaboration between the State of Utah, local governments, service providers, businesses, community leaders, private funders, and representatives of individuals experiencing homeless utilize the fund's flexibility to select and support organizations and respond to ever-changing community needs.

Our Progress

  • Over $1.25 million in grants deployed
  • 12+ partner service providers
  • $14+ million granted by anonymous donors to support homelessness initiatives in Salt Lake County

Nurse Care Management

Could healthcare help solve homelessness? With the help of a $545,000 multi-year grant from the Housing & Homelessness Fund, Fourth Street Clinic established the Nurse Care Management program, which brings nurses and community health workers to visit eight homelessness provider sites within Salt Lake County. On-site healthcare has the ability to prevent serious medical emergencies as the barriers to healthcare access that face those experiencing homelessness are broken down.

Alliance House, Flash Academy, Understanding Us, University of Utah, and Utah State University Extension - Utah County were awarded multi-year grants from the Housing & Homelessness Fund to support physical well-being programs that provide innovative, non-clinical care solutions to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Affordable Housing

$400,000 in loans awarded to provide one-time funding for developers of multi-family rental housing in Salt Lake City to include affordable units targeted at 40% of Area Median Income.
